A busy week in Y6

This week has flown by! This week we have found out more about our story. The island of Wing feels like the only place on earth after the floods but Mara and her community are beginning to realise that the sea is still feasting upon their island and it is still disappearing. This has been the basis for our literacy work this week, exploring the setting and characters in the early chapters of the book.
In maths we have explored sequences and negative numbers. We have enjoyed being outside making human number lines and using sticks for counting. We have carried out cube investigations to develop different sequences and look for patterns.
We have being using maps to investigate coastal towns, comparing Brighton, Tenby and Happisburgh to look at coastal features and map reading skills.
On Thursday we shared our afternoon with Year 5 as we began our Kiva work and Friday afternoon was PE.
Mrs Taylor has begun RE with us on Wednesday and Core Fitness started on Thursday. Year 6 led their first worship on Friday morning — it was very successful and they did a fantastic job!
A busy week all around!
