An end to our half term in Y5

Home » News » An end to our half term in Y5

In Maths this week we have recapped our skills on short and long multiplication and short division. We discussed common errors in detail and spent time trying to find errors in my calculations. Our week ended with our multiplication and division end of unit assessment.
This week In English, we have excitedly written to our new buddies welcoming them to Wybunbury Delves. We gave some facts about ourselves and included a photo too. I know how keen our class are to meet their buddies, this will be arranged in small groups after half term leading up to a more lengthy visit in July.
During Book Club this week we completed a reading test paper, we have put all our book club skills into our answers to do our very best.
In our Science unit, Living Things we have completed our human life cycles and set up our study work page ready to display them. I have included a small piece of Science homework for over half term (measuring an adult), thank you in advance for helping with this activity.

This week we have planted two tomato plants (given to us by Mrs Casserley) ready to take part in an inter class competition, of course now that we are expert plant growers we are hoping for success.

Our clay jewellery has been painted and looks authentic, we are now discussing what our options are for hanging them as necklaces in Stone Age times used sinew!

We finished our week off with a fantastic John Muir day. Our day began by exploring the Moss where we caught butterflies, moths, newts, stickleback fish and much more. On our return, we spent our afternoon exploring our school grounds and found much more than we ever expected, lots of butterflies, strange beetles, spiders, centipedes, dragonfly lava in the pond and even newts. What a lovely way to end a fantastic half term. Thank you to Mrs Charlesworth, Luke's mum and of course Natural England for a great day.

Hope you all have a lovely week and a well-earned rest.
Mrs Burns.
