We hope you enjoy this new collection of reimagined images and verses from Julia Donaldson and Axel...
A Busy Week in Y6
Goodness me, what a busy week we have had in Y6.
We began our week with English. Our scientific reports are now complete and fully edited. They are filled with subject specific language and and key facts, and are extremely informative. Super job Y6. We have now moved onto constructing emails. We have learnt a little about the history of emails and when they were first introduced. Our email replies to one that we have received from a character in our book and we will complete them next week.
We have begun a new Maths project this week. Our small teams of business people have taken on the challenge of creating their own theme park. They have been granted a substantial loan of £5 million pounds and a piece of land extending to 1km squared. Today we have named our theme parks and begun to set them out using a budget sheet. We will continue with this next week.
In History this week we have been introduced to an Anglo Saxon archaeologist find in Sutton Hoo. We have become researchers, exploring all the key facts and events from this period. Our ideas boards are brimming with useful information which we will use to create leaflets. From this information we have gone on to create our own clay artefacts. Today we have added detail to them ready to use in our computing podcasts.
Geography has continued in Y6 this week as we spent time comparing Scotland to The Gambia.
Mindful Monday had Y6 concentrating on their breathing techniques. We all listened to relaxing music and tried to clear our minds. The rest of the week saw Y6 taking part in the Daily Mile which has been a huge success across school. The Daily Mile will take place 3 times across the week.
PE has taken place this week, unfortunately due to the weather and the resources being used we have had to make use of the hall.
RE and Music has been taught by Mrs Whittingham this week. We have also revisited greetings in French.
We enjoyed watching our reception buddies present their class worship today. We will definitely miss them when we leave.
Hope the rain turns to sunshine and have a super weekend.
Mrs B.
