200 Million Minutes Reading Challenge
Welcome to the 200 Million Minutes Reading Challenge
Today the children have been told all about the 200 million minute challenge where we will be joining lots of other schools across the UK to collectively read for...200 million minutes...in 26 days! It's all about introducing children and young people to the habit of reading in every day life, helping them to improve their imagination and communication skills, and brighten their future prospects.
Research shows that just ten minutes of reading a day makes a huge difference to a child's progress. We hope that the 200 Million Minutes Reading Challenge will encourage many more children and young people to read, and to read for longer, both at school and at home.
All reading counts towards our school's minutes. Children can read anything. Books, magazines, comics, plays, newspapers and e-books are all great. Whether reading on their own or with an adult, children can note their reading time on the bookmarks, and the teachers will log in to the website regularly throughout the 26 days to see our school's position on the live leaderboard — a little extra incentive to get our competitive spirit going!
