Welcome to Receptions home learning page
So, here we all are in uncharted territories. So much has changed over the past few weeks and many of our young children will be trying to make sense of it all. Whilst I have set activities for home learning, some children will be feeling anxious and not ready to engage yet. If so, now maybe the time to spend quality time with your children. They need reassurance and love. Play games, watch a family movie, ask them to help with the cooking, share books, do something new together. As we are all adapting to being at home together for long periods of time, it would be fair to say normal rules don't apply!
There will be time enough for that in the next few days and the coming weeks. So don't feel compelled to rush it! Once you have taken stock, work with your children to draw up a routine. Try not to make it too rigid or intense. We don't know how long we are going to be living in this way, so try to avoid putting to much pressure and burn-out upon yourselves and your children.
Each week you will find the link to your child's learning project here: ('weekly plan')
and this will also be emailed to you each week. Throughout the coming weeks I will also add links and ideas for you to access via your child's Tapestry account.
When you have completed any activities at home, please try to share via Tapestry so I can see all the lovely things that you have been doing as families and I can respond to you and your child individually.
It is also important to note that play is equally as important to a child's learning outcomes as structured learning and one of the main ways that they consolidate learning concepts as they contextualize it. Play helps develop children's language skills, emotions, creativity and social skills as well as nurturing imagination and giving children a sense of adventure. Play can also help develop essential skills such as problem solving, working with others, sharing and so much more. So please share your play activities in equal measure to your learning jobs.
