Year 2 News
Our Boy in the Oak story is at an exciting stage. He is now trapped inside the oak tree. As we read the story, we explore the language in more detail. This week we have made a character alley on the playground and we enjoyed sharing our character sentences to each other. We recorded our partners talking about the Boy and the videos gave us lots of ways to extend our ideas. We have been working hard to explore his appearance and personality. We have created super character descriptions this week too.
At the beginning of the week, we focussed on drawing number lines with jumps to add tens and units. The fairy from the Boy in the Oak gave us codes to create a repeated addition number line and this was a great way to link repeated addition to times and multiplication. The numicon pieces have been a wonderful way to see a visual picture before we write our multiplication sentences. We have also sent out a new MyMaths home work today.
In our afternoons this week, we have worked in groups to decide upon a scene for a time on our Roman timeline. The photos are looking great. This timeline has BC and AD on — can you tell an adult about the two different times in history? We want to carry on taking photos next week, and I am looking forward to seeing our timeline come together. The BBC Roman website has been a wonderful resource to explore the timelines in more detail.

In RE we have begun to water colour our Torah scrolls and as part of our Music lesson we have learnt a new playground song.
