Reading Star Challenge Celebration

Home » News » Reading Star Challenge Celebration

What a fantastic afternoon! All of key stage 1 were invited to bring in to school their favourite book and something comfy to sit on. We then set off towards the hall to enjoy our reading time and to celebrate this term's Reading Star Challenge. The children had time to share their favourite book with a friend and talk about their favourite places to read. To complete the Reading Star Challenge, the children had to read in different and unusual places, such as 'under a tree', 'in the car, 'sitting in the grass' and 'wearing a hat'. There was also a 'free' choice square where the children could think of their own place to read. We had some wonderful places such as on a plane, on a beach, at Oulton Park and under the bed! Some children included photographs of them reading, had drawn book covers or made collages of their favourite stories. The children then worked in their classes to come up with new ideas and places for our next Reading Star Challenge. At the end of the day, all the children received a packet of 'bookworms' to eat while they are reading their next book. Happy reading!

"Everyone is a reader, some just haven't found their favourite book yet."
