Our weekly news from Reception
Another busy week in reception !
In our learning this week we have been joining our sentences with 'so' to make them a super sentence. We are getting very good at using our actions to help us recall sounds we hear to put them into our words. We have written fantastic sentences about what we would like to be when we are older and why.
In technology we have been programming Bee Bot to follow directions around a set pathway in order to get to a prize or destination, something we are brilliant at!
In our maths work we have been looking at money, why we use money and how we can make up an amount of money using different coins. Did you know 'p' stands for pennies? We do ! We can now count out the right number of pennies to match a given coin.
PC Nick and PC Oliver came to chat with us about stranger danger this week too, so we all know how to stay safe. I think PC Nick would also like to be PC Full Stop, as he was keen to check our writing too !
We also welcomed Ben from Manchester Metropolitan University, who came to see how we learn phonics in reception. Not only was he impressed with our sound knowledge and excellent segmenting and blending skills, he thought our classroom was the best he had ever seen!
Well done for all your beautiful work on display to show off to our visitors.
Have a lovely weekend
