A news update from our Kaiyaba Primary School, our partnership school in Kenya. 'On 16th...
Our school was a sea of knights, princesses, dragons, St. George flags and red and white on Friday...
Welcome back, I hope you have all had a fantastic break and thank you for all your lovely Easter...
In year 3 this week...
We've had another busy week in Year 3!
In Literacy, we have worked hard to understand how speech marks are used in our writing and thought about people who might be interviewed for a newspaper article about Michael's disappearance. This is in preparation for writing our own news articles which begins next week.
In maths, we have been busy revising place value and have considered numbers up to hundreds of thousands. We can read and write numbers with much bigger values now. We also learned about place value in money, especially how important a zero can be to get the value right. We have looked at decimal places too and have ordered all these numbers, reading our numbers aloud and making sure we know the value of every digit. We are very good at this and Miss Lake says we have made lots of progress!
Our study work has focused on geography. We have looked at the power of the sea and seen its impact on our coast. We have learnt about erosion and can explain how the headlands can be dramatically changed by this. We've made clay models of cliffs, arches and stacks to show the way the rock is worn away over time. After the recent storms, this did seem very topical!
In R.E today, we learned more about Judaism and the festival of Purim. We listened carefully to the story and chose musical instruments to represent each character. We will develop this next week.
You should also have received an email today about our upcoming visit to the Blue Planet. This should be a great day out and engage the children with their new topic.
